Ubuntu aMule fixing remote connection: installing aMule 2.2.1

Hi All,

I’m writing this post in English rather than Italian which is my native language because I thought it could be helpful to other people, and English is the only language know by many people that I can speak at the moment. So, let’s stop to speak about nothing and let’s start to speak about aMule.

If you are using aMule Ubuntu as a daemon because you want to connect to aMule from other computer with different Operating System (such as Windows) you may be upset, because with the aMule package provided by Ubuntu Hardy it’s “impossible” to connect to the amule daemon from “non-Ubuntu Hardy” workstation (even from other machine running Linux or previous Ubuntu version) . Please note: “impossible” in my previous statement means that you can do it in a easy way, but it is possible (i.e.: compiling the source of the ubuntu package by hand).

A reason does exist for the “incompatibility”. The aMule has a protocol for checking the version. In fact, amule-daemon, at the begging of the connection, controls the version of the amule-gui  connecting. If the version differs amule-deamon close the connection. Now, if you check the version of the amule provided by Ubuntu Hardy you find that it is a SVN version which mean that is not a real release and it has its own unique version. Thus it makes the amule-deamon incompatible with all the amule-gui provided by other parties.

SOLUTION: You have to update your aMule to the latest released version, which at the time of speaking is aMule 2.2.1 . Likely, I found aMule 2.2.1 packed for Ubuntu Hardy for you Follow the link to the packages for Ubuntu Hardy:

mentre ascolto e ogni tanto guardo X-Factor in TV (non odiatemi per questo), faccio alcuni esperimenti con il blog. La grafica è stata modifica (che ne pensate?) ed inoltre cercavo di fare il porting della plugin Extension Manager da PHP 5 a PHP 4, senza grandi risultati :S

SpiderWick al cinema

Incredibile dopo mille e mille ripensamenti cosa scrivere e cosa no, in che lingua su quali argomenti, il risultato è stato parlare di cosa ho fatto ieri… Nulla di particolarmente scovolgente, semplicemente sono andato al cinema. Cosa ho visto? Ho visto il film “Spiderwick - Le Cronache“, come scusa non sento bene che dite, volete sapere come mi è sembrato?

Beh, direi un bel film piacevole da vedere. Il film scorre molto velocemente tant’è che i 90 minuti di durata sono fin troppo pochi. Inoltre, diversamente da molti film fantasy, l’emozione principe del film è la comicità: il che lo rende un film adatto a tutte le età. Notevole anche l’interpretazione dell’attore protagonista che interpreta entrambi i ruoli del due gemelli, gemelli che in comune hanno solo la fisionomia perché il carattere è diametralmente opposto. In poche parole lo consiglio a tutti quelli a cui piace vedere film fantasy, purché non si aspettino di vedere un film tipo: Signore degli Anelli, Harry Potter, o La bossola D’Oro.

 Aggiornamento: Mi ero scordato una cosa importatissima! Segnalare che al cinema Medusa di Livorno, non so se è prassi di tutti i Medusa la durata della pubblicità pre-film è di 20 minuti, se vi sembra poco :S
